Susan (Gority) Krater, 68, of Altoona, PA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, April 15, 2018, after an extended battle with cancer.
She was born July 10, 1949, in Altoona, daughter of the late Clement and Janet (Kelley) Gority. She married Kenneth R. Krater, Jr. on June 29, 1968 in Altoona, and they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this summer. Surviving are her husband Kenneth, Jr., sons: Brad (Shannon) Krater of Altoona and Jason (Rachel) Krater of Apollo Beach, FL; three grandchildren: Jared and Adrienne Krater both of Altoona, and Aspen Krater of Apollo Beach. Two brothers: David (Sandy) Gority and Stephen (Darlene) Gority.
Susan was a graduate of Altoona Area High School and attended Grace Bible College in Michigan. She worked as the bookkeeper for Krater Electric Service for many years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she taught elementary Sunday school, a women’s Sunday school class and served on the mission’s board. She was a prayer warrior and enjoyed reading and bird watching. Susan was well known for making delicious pie – especially peach and cherry.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018, at Calvary Baptist Church, 810 Ruskin Drive, Altoona, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 @ 11 a.m., Pastors Ron Anderson and Tyler Pepper, officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Operation Christmas Child/Samaritan’s Purse PO Box 3000 Boone, NC 28607 or the Door Ministries in Bellwood, PA.
