Charles R. Goon

Charles R. “Charlie” Goon, Jr., 74, of Greenwood, died Friday at UMPC, Altoona, following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Altoona the son of the late Charles R.., Sr., and Rose V. (Wellar) Goon.  He married Claire Harpster on October 31, 1962, in Cumberland, Md.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 55 years, a son, Christopher Allen, of Altoona, and a brother, Robert A., of Altoona. 

He was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald W.

Charlie retired in 2001 as a P & D truck driver for Ward Trucking with 37 years service.  He was a 1961 graduate of Altoona High School.  He had attended Trinity Lutheran Church, Juniata.  Charlie’s hobby was model trains.

Friends will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2018, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., Juniata.  A Funeral Service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Rev. Elizabeth Hess officiating.  Interment will be at Alto Reste Park.
