Winifred Rose Hook

Winifred Rose Hook, 86, Altoona, passed away late Sunday at her home. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Frank and Arvilla (Lafferty) Radel. She married Howard E. Hook in Altoona, and he preceded her in death in 2003.

Surviving are her children Larry Hook (Belinda) of Alabama, Toni Hennaman (James) of Altoona, Mark Hook (Mary) of Altoona, and Julie Hook (and friend Woody Buckreis) of Altoona; 3 granddaughters: Marcia Weatherwalk, Cassandra Moyer, and Crystal Sponsler; 9 great-grandchildren; and 2 brothers: Nelson Radel, and Roy Radel. She was preceded in death by her son Thomas Hook and her grandson Michael Hook.

Winifred was the former owner of Captain Hook’s Hotel in Juniata. She enjoyed gambling in Atlantic City and Las Vegas, and also enjoyed spending time with her family.

Friends will be received from 4-7 PM Wednesday, September 27, 2018, and from 10 AM until the 11 AM funeral service Thursday, September 27, 2018, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., with Pastor Jason Mauk, officiating. Interment at Alto Rest Park
