Mary Virginia Kauffman
January 12, 1924 — March 6, 2019
Mary Virginia Kauffman, 95, Lexington, VA, formerly of Altoona, passed away Wednesday afternoon at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Lexington, VA.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Jacob F. and Rebecca (Andrews) Segmiller. She married William W. Kauffman in Cumberland, MD. He preceded her in death on November 30, 1983.
She is survived by a two sons: W. David Kauffman (Angela) of Lexington, VA and Dale W. Kauffman (Tonilee) of Virginia Beach, VA; three grandchildren: Christopher Kauffman (Elizabeth) of Charlestown of Summerville, SC, James Kauffman (Barbara) of Renton, WA and Lara Zamora (Roberto) of Spring, TX; and seven great grandchildren: Julia (Colin) Filo, Annelise, Jacob, Aidan, and Charlotte Kauffman and David and Gabriel Zamora.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Rauscher and a brother, George Segmiller.
Mary was a graduate of Altoona High School. She was employed by Modern Communications, Altoona. She retired from Blue Cross of Western, PA on January 1, 1985 and then was employed by Blair Medical Associates.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. A member and past Matron of Delphi Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, a member of the Women’s Club of Altoona, and a member of Lutheran Church Women.
Friends will be received on Monday, March 11, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Altoona and on Tuesday, March 12th from 10 until the 11 a.m. Funeral Service at Trinity Lutheran Church, 408 N 6th Street, Altoona with Pastor Elizabeth Hess officiating. Interment will be made at Alto Reste Park Cemetery, Altoona.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.
